Office Standard MAC Installation Guide

Follow this guide to easily install and activate Microsoft Office Standard on your MAC.

Microsoft support cannot assist with product keys that were not purchased directly from Microsoft.

Step 1, Start here

Before You Begin

Before installing Office 2024, please make sure:

  • Your Mac meets the system requirements for Office 2024 LTSC (macOS Sonoma 14 or later).
  • You have a stable internet connection to download the installation files.
  • You have administrator access to your Mac.
  • You have saved and closed any open Office documents.
Step 2, Remove older versions
  1. Close all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  2. Open Finder.
  3. Select Applications from the sidebar.
  4. Locate any existing Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Select the Office applications you want to remove.
  6. Right-click and select Move to Trash.
  7. Empty the Trash if you are sure you no longer need those applications.
  8. Restart your Mac.

Note: Removing Office applications does not normally delete your personal Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents. However, we recommend backing up important files before uninstalling software.

Step 3, Download Office

Download the official Microsoft Office installation package using the link below.

Download Microsoft Office for Mac – Installer.pkg

  1. Click the download link above.
  2. Wait for the download to finish.
  3. Open Finder → Downloads.
  4. Locate the downloaded .pkg installation file.

Important: Do not open Word, Excel or other Office applications until you have completed the activation step.

Step 4, Start the Installation
  1. Double-click the downloaded Office installer.
  2. Click Continue when the installation window appears.
  3. Accept Microsoft's software license agreement.
  4. Select your installation destination if prompted.
  5. Click Install.
  6. Enter your Mac administrator password if requested.
  7. Wait for the installation to complete.
  8. Click Close once you see the installation success message.

Office is now installed on your Mac.

Do not launch Office yet. Continue to the next step to activate your license.

Step 5, Activate License 

Microsoft Office 2024 LTSC for Mac uses a special volume licensing package called a Serializer.

This package installs the licensing information required to activate Office.

Download Office 2024 LTSC Volume License Serializer

  1. Click the download link above.
  2. Save the file to your Mac.
  3. Open Finder → Downloads.
  4. Locate Microsoft_Office_LTSC_2024_VL_Serializer.pkg.
Step 6, Restart and Completion

Once you have obtained the verified Office 2024 LTSC Serializer:

  1. Double-click Microsoft_Office_LTSC_2024_VL_Serializer.pkg.
  2. Click Continue.
  3. Follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Enter your Mac administrator password if requested.
  6. Wait until the installation has finished.
  7. Click Close.

The Serializer installs the Office volume license locally on your Mac.

Simply insert your product key when prompted to do so.

Troubleshooting

  • Office Does Not Activate

    Please make sure:

    Correct Office version was installed

    Older Office versions were removed

    The product key was entered correctly

    Your internet connection is stable

  • Installation Does Not Start

    Try:

    Right clicking the installation file
    Selecting “Run as administrator”

    Also check if your antivirus software is blocking the installer.

  • Office Shows “Unlicensed Product”

    This is usually caused by:

    Wrong Office version installed

    Older Office versions still remaining on the computer
    Activation not completed correctly

  • About the Installation File

    The installer we provide is a preconfigured setup file.

    It downloads Office directly from Microsoft’s servers and simplifies the installation process.
